A boutique retreat in Peru’s Sacred Valley went from 3-5 bird strikes every week to zero reported collisions after installing Feather Friendly visual markers.

The main building features expansive windows on nearly three sides, filling the space with natural light. But the reflections of the sky and vegetation posed a serious risk to birds, and the retreat experienced an average of 3-5 bird strikes per week.
When El Verde began a major reconstruction, every pane of glass had to be removed.
It was the ideal opportunity to address the collision problem. Their team chose Feather Friendly visual markers to make the glass visible to birds.

Nearly one year after installation, El Verde had not recorded a single bird strike. The windows still provide the light and views that define the retreat, while giving birds a much better chance of recognizing and avoiding the glass.
This project is a perfect reminder that bird-glass collisions are not limited to cities or large commercial buildings.
