The Liberty Bell Center is one of the most recognized public buildings in the United States, welcoming millions of visitors each year. Its extensive glass facade plays a central role in the visitor experience, offering clear views into and out of the space.
At the same time, the site is located within an area where bird collisions have been consistently documented during migration. Monitoring in Independence National Historical Park recorded 121 bird collisions in spring 2025 and 116 in fall 2025, highlighting the need for effective mitigation.
The challenge at this site was to reduce bird collisions on large expanses of glass while preserving the architectural character of a nationally significant building.
