McCormick Place's expansive glass façade and lakeside location made it a major threat for migratory birds flying through one of North America’s busiest migration pathways.

The challenge was clear - drastically reduce bird collisions while maintaining the aesthetics and architectural integrity of this iconic building.

McCormick Place sought technical assistance from experts at Field Museum, American Bird Conservancy, and others. After much research, they followed recommendations summarized by US Fish and Wildlife Service.
